Its that time of year again, kids. The week where I pour over Style.com‘s coverage of the latest shows and try to find trends I’m excited about. For the Resort ’14 shows, it was an easy task trying to pinpoint similarities between new pieces, but the most fun I had was seeing how different designers made each trend their own.
Here it is, JLa-Di-Da’s Resort ’14 trend report!
I found many designers tapping into the late 60s/Early 70s vibe of clean, classic silhouettes and oversize prints –very Joan, Peggy and Betty, don’t you think?

Coats on Coats on Coats
Here is one thing you will learn about me. I am a confessed coat FREAK. I can’t get enough. These Resort coats had me basically foaming at the mouth…
Don’t these ladylike, candy-colored pieces make you want to frolic in a park? No? Just me?….
Androgyny at its Finest
Tomboy chic. Drop waists. Clean lines. What to wear when its all you can do not to wear pajamas out of the house. My kind of style.
These expertly mismatched looks are so refreshing to see. Cheers to everyone looking like they got dressed in the dark! So chic!
The Breton Effect
I recently found out what a “Breton” shirt is. It was the French Navy’s official uniform during the early 20th century –the block stripe pattern made it easier to spot overboard sailors. Coco Chanel was inspired by this design, and I guess the rest is fashion history. The Breton shirt began showing up in movies and Gap stores around the world.
