Birthday Celebrations!

Turned the big 2-6 on Saturday, which is a little scary and a little exciting at the same time. Scary because I have to be a real, actual adult now and exciting for the very same reason. I’ll admit, I’m a little apprehensive about how rapidly I am approaching 30, but as they say, 30 is the new 20. So does that make me, like, 16? At any rate, bring it on!

It was a fabulous birthday celebration. I spent the weekend with people I love and everything turned out perfectly. Saturday was spent going to breakfast (one of my favorite hobbies) at Kanela and maxing on their Pork Belly Eggs Benedict, which is OUT OF CONTROL; getting my nails done (always a lovely treat) and hopping around to spots all over the city! We went to sushi dinner, to the rooftop of the Ritz Carlton hotel (GORGEOUS views– there was even fireworks display being reflected off the buildings, a fun little bonus), got a tiki-inspired drink at Three Dots and a Dash and finished the night off being dancing fools at Mercer113. It was a full day but definitely a fun one! Sunday was spent at home with family, grilling outside and eating delicious homemade cake.

Now, onto the fashions of the evening. I was super excited to wear a top that I bought at the Randolph Street Market for a few reasons: 1. It was really sparkly and made noise when I shimmied and 2. I finally realized a dream of mine to put my own spin on an outfit Rihanna wore that I fell in love with. I’ve been wanting to re create this look for a while, and I love the way it turned out. I love the mix of a super girly, sparkly top with tough, baggy jeans and heels. Its a perfect balance:
